Matteo Manassero eager to win on home soil

Italian teenager Matteo Manassero reveals that he is targeting victory at this week's Sicilian Open following his failure to qualify for the Masters.

Matteo Manassero has claimed that he is not too disappointed at not qualifying for the Masters ahead of competing on his home soil this week.

The Italian teenager missed out on qualification for Augusta after failing to win in Morocco last week but believes that he can make up for the failure with a win at the Sicilian Open.

The 18-year-old told the European Tour website: "I don't feel like I have missed out on Augusta. I don't have any sadness about not going there because I have a great chance to win in Italy this week.

"And that would be a great achievement. I think everybody would love to win in their home country and I am the same."

Manassero has recorded two European Tour victories during his short career.
