John Daly storms off course at Australian Open

John Daly storms off course at the Australian Open after hitting several balls into the water at the eleventh hole.

American golfer John Daly caused controversy on Thursday when he walked off the course at the Australian Open.

Daly hit six balls into the water on the eleventh hole at The Lakes golf course before shaking hands with his playing partners.

The 45-year-old had been seven over par after the tenth hole.

He had been penalised for grounding his club at the tenth and eventually took a triple-bogey seven for the hole.

However, at the eleventh hole he hit several balls into the water before a tour official came to talk to him.

Daly then shook hands with his playing partners Craig Parry and Hunter Mahan and walked off the course.

The golfer is a two-time major winner, after he was victorious at the PGA Championship in 1991 and the British Open in 1995.
