Sergio Garcia, Paul Lawrie and Graeme McDowell make short work of their last-16 matches to progress at the World Matchplay.

Sergio Garcia, Paul Lawrie and Graeme McDowell made light work of their last-16 matches at the Volvo World Matchplay Championship this morning.

Spaniard Garcia dispatched of English youngster Tom Lewis 4&3, sealing the win with a 20-footer on 15.

Former Open champion Lawrie, who is making his 500th appearance on the European Tour, continued his impressive return to form this season by ousting Dane Thomas Bjorn 5&4 in windy conditions in Malaga.

McDowell ended tournament outsider Richard Finch's hopes with a 3&2 win.

Defending champion Ian Poulter is currently behind in his game against big-hitting Alvaro Quiros and may not reach the quarter-final stage.
