Tiger Woods cheered on Fred Couples at Masters

Tiger Woods has revealed that he was only really interested in watching this year's Masters when Fred Couples was in contention.

Woods had to miss the tournament through injury and revealed in a blog post on his website today that he wanted fellow American Couples to win at Augusta.

Couples, 54, won his only Major at the 1992 Masters and was in and around the leaders for much of this year's tournament, which was won by Bubba Watson.

"Missing my first Masters was tough," wrote Woods. "I actually watched quite a bit of it because Freddie was in contention.

"As soon as his name went up on the leaderboard, I started watching what he was doing. Once he got off to that bad start Sunday, it wasn't as much fun.

"I was happy for Bubba Watson and want to congratulate him on winning his second green jacket. The golf course sets up great for a long fader who is left-handed."

Woods is still the world number one even though he has been out injured for a prolonged period.
