Jordan Spieth eyes Open victory at St Andrews

Jordan Spieth says that he cannot wait to play in The Open at St Andrews this summer.

Masters champion Jordan Spieth has said that he cannot wait to compete at The Open at the Old Course, St Andrews this summer.

The 21-year-old Texan won The Masters with a score of 18-under to secure his first Major. He will play at the US Open in June before heading to St Andrews.

"To go to the 'home of golf' and what I consider one of the coolest places in the world, with maybe the most knowledgeable fans in the world, as Masters champion is going to be really special," Spieth told The Scotsman.

"I look forward to enjoying the town, obviously the tournament. I'm sure that it will be great to enjoy the whole experience of playing in an Open Championship at St Andrews. It will be really cool.

"Hopefully at that point, maybe I'll be trying to go for the third leg of a Grand Slam. You can't win four unless you win the first one, right?"

The Old Course last hosted The Open in 2010, with Louis Oosthuizen winning with a score of 16-under.
