Daniel Ricciardo optimistic on Malaysian Grand Prix chances

Daniel Ricciardo hopes that Red Bull can atone for their poor showing in Australia with a good result at the Malaysian Grand Prix.

Daniel Ricciardo has insisted that Red Bull can put their difficult Australian Grand Prix weekend behind them with a good performance in Malaysia.

The Aussie finished sixth in Melbourne, well off the pace of Williams and Ferrari, who will likely be their challengers for second place in the Constructors' Championship, behind what should be a dominant Mercedes in 2015.

However, Ricciardo believes that Red Bull can give their season a boost with a good result in the heat of Sepang next weekend.

He told reporters: "I know we have a lot of things to improve on and I'm optimistic that we can achieve some of those in Malaysia, which will give us some more performance. I'm just hanging out waiting to drive now, but it's good.

"The season has started now and I think if anyone had any first race jitters they're gone and I think Malaysia should run a lot smoother for everyone."

Ricciardo was the only non-Mercedes winner in 2014, taking three race victories in his first season with the Milton Keynes-based team.
