Bernie Ecclestone: 'Las Vegas wants a Formula 1 race'

Formula One Group chief executive Bernie Ecclestone reveals that Las Vegas wants to host a Formula 1 race.

Bernie Ecclestone has revealed that the city of Las Vegas is keen to host a Formula 1 race.

Ecclestone has overseen the addition of races in Austria and Russia to the Formula 1 calendar this year, but attempts to bring the sport to New Jersey have failed in the last couple of seasons.

"Vegas say they are ready to go and it would be on The Strip for sure," Ecclestone told The Independent.

"In the end there's a million countries that would like to have an F1 race but they can't afford it."

Formula 1 will also return to Mexico next season, with Baku in Azerbaijan due to hold a race from 2016.
