Mercedes plan to offer new contract to Lewis Hamilton

Mercedes boss Toto Wolff reveals that he wants Lewis Hamilton to continue partnering Nico Rosberg beyond 2015.

Mercedes boss Toto Wolff has confirmed that the team are determined to keep driver Lewis Hamilton alongside teammate Nico Rosberg beyond 2015.

The pair, who have had a few spats over the course of the season, have dominated the campaign, with Hamilton currently 17 points ahead of his teammate in the drivers' championship with three races left to go.

Mercedes became constructors' champions at the weekend following Hamilton's victory at the Russian Grand Prix.

While the team plan to extend the Brit's contract, Wolff has confirmed that talks will not take place until after the season has ended.

"We have a contract with both our drivers for 2015 and we want to continue with the current line-up," the Daily Star quotes Wolff as saying. "That is because these two boys are part of the success of the team, they know each other so well and they respect each other.

"The moment you get somebody else in that fight could be detrimental to the team's performance. So our main priority is to continue with Lewis and Nico beyond 2015.

"We have agreed with Lewis we want to concentrate on the championship and leave him alone."

Hamilton and Rosberg will return to the track in Texas for the United States Grand Prix on November 2.
