Toto Wolff credits Ross Brawn for Mercedes success

Mercedes co-team boss Toto Wolff pays tribute to the part that Ross Brawn played in the team's journey to becoming constructors' champions.

Mercedes co-team boss Toto Wolff has insisted that Ross Brawn deserves some of the credit for the team's success in winning this season's constructors' championship.

Brawn, 59, became team principal of the Brackley-based outfit in 2010, but he stepped down from the position last year.

However, having guided Mercedes to their first ever title with a one-two finish at the Russian Grand Prix on Sunday, Wolff has admitted that Brawn "built the foundation of the team".

"We talked about Ross a lot and he has been so fundamental to the team. He built the foundation of the team. This is his trophy, too. There are several hundred people in Brackley and Stuttgart who have played a part as well," he told BBC Sport.

Lewis Hamilton won the race, while his Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg finished second.
