Fernando Alonso 'proud' of teammate Jenson Button's Monaco Grand Prix finish

McLaren driver Fernando Alonso says that he is proud of his teammate Jenson Button following his performance at the Monaco Grand Prix.

McLaren's Fernando Alonso has declared that he is "proud" of teammate Jenson Button after the Briton secured their first points of the season at the Monaco Grand Prix.

The Spaniard's race ended prematurely following a suspected gearbox issue, but Button went on to finish in eighth place with a time of 1:49:34.483.

"First points of the season for us with Jenson! Impressive the progress of the team so far! A lot to do, but very proud," Alonso wrote on Twitter afterwards.

Nico Rosberg won the race, with Sebastian Vettel second and Lewis Hamilton in third.
