Half-Time Report: Wycombe Wanderers on course to survive

Wycombe Wanderers are 2-0 up on Torquay United and are set to avoid relegation from League Two as it stands.

Sam Wood's early goal has given Wycombe Wanderers a chance to avoid relegation as they lead Torquay United and, with results going their way so far, they are on course to stay in the Football League as it stands.

The Chairboys' opener came when Matt Bloomfield's cross found Sam Wood and his close-range effort nestled in the bottom corner of the net, to the delight of the sizeable travelling support on the Devon coast.

Wycombe could have been further ahead as both Krystian Pearce and Anthony Stewart went close to adding a second.

However, Wanderers needed to be wary of conceding when Elliot Benyon and Ashley Yeoman had chances blocked in quick succession.

The visitors continued to press for a second goal and Steven Craig was agonisingly wide with his shot.

Their travelling support were boosted by the news that Bristol Rovers fell behind at home to Mansfield Town.

Wycombe then doubled their advantage minutes before the break when Anthony O'Connor fouled Matt McClure in the area and Steven Craig coolly slotted the subsequent penalty home.
