Kenny Jackett "working hard" on new signings

Wolves boss Kenny Jackett reveals that he is "working hard" on new signings as an injury crisis engulfs the club.

Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Kenny Jackett has revealed that his team are "working hard" on new signings amid the club's injury crisis.

Two more names were added to the injury list yesterday as new striker Michal Zyro, who has scored three goals in two league appearances since joining at the start of the month, and midfield stalwart Dave Edwards were ruled out for six and 12 weeks respectively.

Wolves are also having to make do without the services of Nouha Dicko, Jordan Graham, Bjorn Sigurdarson, Kortney Hause, Emiliano Martinez and Razak Boukari just weeks after the sale of Benik Afobe to Premier League Bournemouth.

"It's a high list, as high as I've had since I've been here," Jackett told the Express & Star. "These things happen. We work as hard as we can to prevent them but I think in these cases there isn't really anything that could have been done. In the meantime, there are opportunities for other people."

The Midlands side are not due back in action until February 2, the day after the transfer window closes, and while Jackett confirmed that new signings were a priority, he also suggested that he could give chances to youth players.

"We'll see," he added. "Certainly people at the club are working hard. Whether it'll be a busy week I don't know.

"Wolves is a club that works very hard at its young players, so when you do get injuries there'll be opportunities for young players, definitely.

"We have the academy and the under-21 system to supplement and make sure that when chances like this come you have players that can come through. There's many careers been made in situations like that."

Wolves are currently 12th in the Championship, eight points adrift of the playoff places.
