Richard Stearman: 'Wolverhampton Wanderers stood up like real men'

Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Richard Stearman says that he and his teammates stood up "like real men" during their 2-1 win over Queens Park Rangers.

Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Richard Stearman has admitted that he and his teammates had to dig deep to secure a 2-1 win over Queens Park Rangers on Thursday night.

The West Midlands outfit held a 2-0 lead over 10-man QPR but a late onslaught from their hosts left the result in doubt until the final seconds after seven minutes of added-on time.

It was the first time that Wolves had recorded a win since September 24, and Stearman was full of praise for how his side dealt with the closing stages at Loftus Road.

The 29-year-old is quoted by the Express & Star as saying: "We were real men out there, we showed some real leadership and we stood up to the challenge where maybe we might have conceded in weeks gone by.

"We really stood up to the test. We made it quite difficult for ourselves at the end but that's typical of how we are as a club.

"We definitely should have been a few more goals ahead but credit to their keeper, he's pulled off some great saves and kept them in the game."

Wolves sit just three points above the relegation zone in the Championship table.
