Stale Solbakken critical of Championship style

Former Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Stale Solbakken says that he witnessed many "brainless" games during his time at the Championship club.

Stale Solbakken has described many of the games in the Championship as "brainless" and suggested that managers at the second tier of English football must accept they may damage their career.

Solbakken lasted just six months and 30 games at Wolverhampton Wanderers before he was sacked by the Molineux outfit, but he has since returned to FC Copenhagen and is currently enjoying a successful period with the club.

During his pre-match press conference ahead of the Champions League fixture with Leicester City, Solbakken was asked about the recent sacking of Walter Zenga and the former Wimbledon midfielder joked that his spell in the West Midlands did not look that bad on reflection.

The 48-year-old told reporters: "Leicester have brains. I've seen so many brainless games there. I think I managed there longer than the last four bosses. I'm getting better and better every week! Maybe I wasn't that bad after all.

"If you are stupid enough to take a job in the Championship then you have to take the blame. I wouldn't have done it again. This is not a Steve Morgan (former Wolves owner) conference but I'm happy not to look into his iPad to watch players."

In two spells totalling nine years at Copenhagen, Solbakken has claimed six league titles and three Danish Cups.
