John Ruddy: 'Wolverhampton Wanderers promotion feels special'

Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper John Ruddy says that securing promotion to the Premier League in his first season at Molineux feels "really special".

Goalkeeper John Ruddy has admitted that securing promotion to the Premier League in his first season at Wolverhampton Wanderers feels "really special".

At the weekend, Fulham's draw with Brentford confirmed that Wolves would be a top-flight team next season, although the West Midlands outfit still require a point from their remaining three matches to seal the Championship title.

Ruddy has acknowledged that he and his teammates still have work to do, but the Englishman says that he is delighted to have won promotion to English football's top tier for a second time after previously achieving the same aim with Norwich City.

The 31-year-old told the club's official website: "We'll have a good celebration now and then look forward to hopefully finishing the season off well and making sure we're champions.

"It's really special. I said when I joined the club that I was joining because it matched the ambition that I had, which was to get back into the Premier League, and we've achieved that.

"I've done it before, but occasions like this get better every single time, and we're going to enjoy this one."

Ruddy has conceded just 36 goals from his 43 appearances for Wolves this season.
