Football League chairman Greg Clarke has said that Sir Jack Hayward made an "enormous contribution" to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Wolves announced earlier today that president and former owner Hayward had died at the age of 91 after a prolonged battle with illness.
"Along with everyone at the Football League, I'm saddened to learn of Sir Jack's passing," said Clarke.
"He made an enormous contribution to Wolverhampton Wanderers and our competition during his 17 years as owner.
"One only has to look at Molineux today to see the enduring legacy of his generous support for the club and everyone at Wolves will miss him greatly."
Hayward famously sold the club to Steve Morgan for £10 in 2007 so that £30m could be invested in the club.
