Dave Whelan: 'We did not want to sell Callum McManaman'

Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan reveals that the Championship outfit repelled interest in Callum McManaman before the transfer window slammed shut.

Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan has revealed that the Championship outfit repelled late interest in Callum McManaman on Monday evening.

The 22-year-old had been linked with a number of clubs throughout the transfer window, but will remain with the Latics until at least January.

"We had an offer for Callum McManaman, but there's too much potential in that boy for us to even think about selling," Whelan told the Wigan Evening Post.

However, Wigan did allow midfielder James McCarthy to join Everton for £12m.
