Roberto Martinez eyes January signings

Wigan boss Roberto Martinez reveals that he hopes to sign "two or three" players during the January transfer window.

Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez has revealed that he is looking to sign "two or three" players during the January transfer window.

The Latics could be without up to seven members of their squad through injury for Monday's trip to Newcastle United in the Premier League.

"The way we've been running our football club we always try to work in advance and we're trying to get probably two or three players to help the ones we have got at the club to give us a real boost in January," said Martinez.

"Remember it is a difficult window but we have been working now for a long time to identify players who can bring us something different."

Wigan are currently in 15th place in the Premier League table.
