Western Sydney Wanderers have announced that Markus Babbel has been appointed as the club's new manager.
Last month, the A-League outfit parted company with Josep Gombau and after taking their time over naming a replacement, Germany legend Babbel has been given the main role in the dugout.
Babbel has spent his managerial career in Germany and Switzerland, with the 45-year-old's biggest achievement coming in 2010-11 when he won the second-tier title with Hertha Berlin.
The former Liverpool defender is tasked with trying to improve on Wanderers' seventh-place finish in the standings during the most recent campaign.
Between 2012 and 2016, Wanderers finished in the top two on three occasions, but the past two seasons have been spent outside of the top five.
