David Gold: 'Further West Ham United signings to be made'

David Gold tells West Ham United supporters that the club "have many irons in the fire" in terms of new signings, having so far missed out on a big-name capture.

West Ham United co-chairman David Gold has assured supporters that the club are still "working hard" to bring in some more new faces during the transfer window.

The Hammers have been linked with big-money moves for a string of players, including AC Milan striker Carlos Bacca and Real Madrid ace James Rodriguez.

West Ham have so far been frustrated in their attempts to lure a megastar to East London in time for their move to the Olympic Stadium later this summer, but Gold has urged United fans to remain patient.

"I can assure all our supporters that we are still working hard behind the scenes to bring new players into the squad and have many irons in the fire," he told the club's official website.

"There is still a long way to go before the transfer window closes. David Sullivan is working relentlessly to push these players over the line and nobody is better than him at getting the best possible deals."

West Ham have been given another transfer boost of sorts, with in-demand midfielder Dimitri Payet quoted as saying that he will "100%" be staying at the club this summer.
