The Premier League has announced that it will launch an investigation into the incidents which saw West Ham United players clash with fans during this afternoon's match against Burnley.
Hammers skipper Mark Noble wrestled one supporter to the ground after he entered the field of play following Burnley's opening goal at the London Stadium, while there were further pitch invasions after both subsequent Burnley strikes as the Clarets won 3-0 in the capital.
James Collins was also forced to march two invaders off the field, and there was further trouble in the stands as sections of West Ham fans fought amongst themselves.
"It is essential that everyone who plays or attends a Premier League football match can do so safely. There is no place at any level of the game for what happened at the London Stadium today," read a statement from the Premier League.
"While the official investigation of the incidents will be carried out by the Football Association, we will be asking our own questions of West Ham United about what happened this afternoon, especially to ensure similar events never reoccur.
"We would like to commend referee Lee Mason and his team of officials for their actions which, combined with the cooperation of players and coaching staff from both clubs, enabled the match to be completed."
The defeat leaves West Ham 16th in the Premier League table, just three points clear of the relegation zone.
