West Ham United midfielder Pablo Fornals insists that there is no reason why the Hammers cannot push for a place in Europe after a strong start to the 2020-21 campaign.

West Ham United's Pablo Fornals has insisted that the Hammers are firmly in with a shout of a European place following their strong start to the Premier League season.

David Moyes's men have enjoyed some notable results against European-chasing sides already, with West Ham overcoming Leicester City and Wolverhampton Wanderers with ease while also taking points off of Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City.

The Hammers currently sit 12th in the embryonic table, but Fornals has said that there is no reason why West Ham cannot carry their momentum forward and push for a top-six finish.

"I think we made a step up, fighting with unbelievable teams in the last few games and for that reason we are in a comfortable position, but we have enough quality and belief to keep going up the table," Fornals said in quotes attributed to the Evening Standard.

"When I played in Villarreal, in my first season there we qualified for the UEFA Europa League and it's an incredible feeling to play in European competition and try to fight for some trophies, so of course after the last few years we've had, we first need to get to 40 points as soon as possible but after this we have to dream.

"We have to keep dreaming, to keep fighting and working as we are doing, we can arrive in a good position come the end of the season."

West Ham last made an appearance in Europe in the 2016-17 campaign, during which they were sent packing by Romanian side Astra Giurgiu in the Europa League playoff round.
