New West Ham United manager David Moyes has admitted that he has a "big job" ahead of him but is confident he can turn the club's form around.

Moyes was confirmed as Slaven Bilic's successor at the London Stadium this morning and inherits a team sitting in the Premier League relegation zone with just two wins from their opening 11 games.

The Scot has been given a six-month contract until the end of the season, and he called on the club's supporters - who left in their thousands during the recent 4-1 home defeat to Liverpool - to get behind the team.

"I'm really looking forward to meeting the supporters, being in the stadium and seeing them get right behind the team, and my team also," he told the club's official website.

"We need everybody with us. It's a big job we have in hand but, with everybody together, I'm sure we can get the right results between now and the end of the season."

Moyes, who becomes only the 16th permanent manager in West Ham's history, will take charge of his first match away to Watford on November 19.
