Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright wants friend Slaven Bilic to take a break from football for the sake of his health after the manager's dismissal from West Ham United.

Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright has insisted that Slaven Bilic needs a break from football for the sake of his health following his dismissal from West Ham United.

The Hammers sacked Bilic on Monday morning following a troublesome run of form during 2017, which has seen the club win just two of their 11 Premier League games this season.

"As a friend, I'm actually pleased, knowing what he has been going through," Wright told BBC Radio 5 live.

"For his health he needs this break from it, because you can't work like that, always two games from the sack."

Former Manchester United boss David Moyes is being touted as the frontrunner to replace Bilic at the London Stadium.
