West Ham United's Aaron Cresswell frustrated with Sunderland draw

West Ham United defender Aaron Cresswell reveals that his side were frustrated by their inability to take all three points from their Premier League clash with Sunderland.

West Ham United defender Aaron Cresswell has admitted that he and his teammates were disappointed to take only a point from their clash against Sunderland.

The Black Cats raced into a 2-0 lead in the first half, but Carl Jenkinson got the Hammers back into the game on the stroke of half time.

Jeremain Lens was dismissed for Dick Advocaat's men early after the restart and Dimitri Payet brought West Ham level with close-range finish. However, despite their numerical advantage West Ham failed to take all three points from the Stadium of Light.

Cresswell told the club's official website: "I think we could have got the victory at the end of the game. We went two goals down and we know the first half simply wasn't good enough.

"It has happened to us a couple of times but we knew it was going to be tough coming to Sunderland with what is happening there at the moment. We knew the gaffer was not going to be happy with us at half-time but all credit for the way we came out fighting in the second half.

"They were reduced to ten-men for the last 35 minutes and it was a bit of a disappointing end as you would have fancied us to get the three points, but it wasn't meant to be. It was frustrating and they were always going to drop off and defend their 18-yard box which they did and we couldn't get the goal to go on and win the game."

West Ham are fifth in the Premier League following their draw against the Black Cats.
