Agent: 'Queens Park Rangers passed on Diafra Sakho move'

QPR previously turned down the chance to sign in-form West Ham striker Diafra Sakho, according to the hitman's agent.

The agent of West Ham United hitman Diafra Sakho has revealed that Queens Park Rangers rejected the chance to sign his client.

The 24-year-old - a summer signing from Metz - has enjoyed a fine start to life in the Premier League and scored against QPR on Sunday for his fifth goal in as many games.

Sakho's representative Mark McKay claims that Rangers ignored a recommendation to sign the striker, and praised West Ham co-owner David Sullivan for spotting his potential.

"Diafra Sakho has been a revelation for West Ham and a lot of the credit must go to David Sullivan for signing him," McKay told Sky Sports News.

"West Ham almost missed out on signing him as initially they wanted him on loan and Metz were never going to agree to that.

"He was actually recommended to QPR's chief scout and offered to them, but that fell on deaf ears. However, David Sullivan was determined to sign him and he went to great lengths to get the deal done."

Sakho has helped fire the Hammers up to seventh in the Premier League table.
