West Bromwich Albion reportedly identify Spanish striker Guillermo as their first summer signing following their inevitable relegation from the Premier League.

West Bromwich Albion have reportedly identified Spanish striker Guillermo as their first transfer target this summer as they look to win promotion back to the Premier League.

The Baggies are almost certain to be relegated from the top flight this term, sitting rock bottom of the Premier League table and 10 points from safety with just seven games of their season remaining.

According to The Sun, the club's hierarchy have already accepted their fate and have begun planning for what they hope will be a promotion-winning campaign in 2018-19.

The newspaper claims that the Baggies want to sign Guillermo, a 24-year-old striker who currently plies his trade with Numancia in Spain's second tier and caught the eye with a brace against Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey earlier this season.

The former Athletic Bilbao man is likely to be available for around £2m - a figure that can easily be met by the club, who will not only have parachute payments at their disposal but also significant funds from the departures of their top players.

Alan Pardew's side have lost their last eight league games in a row and are still to face Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United in their final run of games.
