Dimitar Berbatov scores in Fulham's win at West Bromwich Albion

Fulham defeat West Bromwich Albion 2-1 away, thanks to goals from Dimitar Berbatov and Alexander Kacaniklic.

The Cottagers hogged possession in the opening exchanges at The Hawthorns, but failed to make any effort on goal in the first 10 minutes.

Things picked up momentum in the 12th minute when set up by Ashkan Dejagah, Steve Sidwell shot high over the West Brom crossbar from outside the box.

Dimitar Berbatov had a great chance to put Fulham ahead on the half-hour mark when he found himself with a loose ball just outside the area, but failed to make the most of it.

However, the Bulgarian striker eventually broke the deadlock in the 39th minute when set up by Dejagah following a counter-attack, firing his shot past Ben Foster.

West Brom started the second session with more intensity and equalised in the 48th minute, Romelu Lukaku tapping in Billy Jones's cross from just yards out.

The Baggies almost went 2-1 up in the 52nd minute when Lukaku hit the post, and four minutes later Zoltan Gera was denied by the frame of the Fulham goal too.

However, the Cottagers regained their advantage in the 57th minute when Alexander Kacaniklic latched onto Bryan Ruiz's ball from over the top and neatly finished it.

West Brom came close to equalising in the 74th minute, but Lukaku failed to keep his header on target.
