Tony Pulis: 'We showed great resilience'

West Bromwich Albion boss Tony Pulis hails his side's defensive display in their goalless draw against Liverpool at The Hawthorns.

West Bromwich Albion boss Tony Pulis has praised his side's resilience after they held Liverpool to a goalless draw in the Premier League.

Neither side were a threat in the first 45 minutes at The Hawthorns, but the game opened up in the second half as both teams enjoyed decent chances, with the Merseysiders coming closest when Jordon Ibe hit the crossbar.

Brendan Rodgers's men upped the ante towards the end of the match, but the Baggies held firm to hold out for a point and Pulis was impressed with their "resilience".

He told BBC Sport: "Liverpool were very good in the last 20 minutes. The lads showed a lot of resilience and we are very pleased. We are pleased to get out and get another point.

"We had our share of chances but we will take the point. We had a poor set of results here before this game and that was down to the mentality more than anything - when people say we are safe with this and that.

"We are not good enough to take our foot off the pedal we have to be 100% all the time."

West Brom are now 13th in the Premier League table, seven points above the relegation zone.
