Jonas Olsson wants new West Bromwich Albion deal for Gareth McAuley

Jonas Olsson encourages West Brom to offer veteran defender Gareth McAuley a new contract.

West Bromwich Albion defender Jonas Olsson has encouraged the Baggies to offer Gareth McAuley a new contract.

The 36-year-old is out of contract in June, and Olsson claims that his services to the Hawthorns club down the years merits a new deal.

"He's a good player. He's been doing really well for us over the past few years, so hopefully the club will tie him down," he told the Birmingham Mail.

"He's still fit and healthy. He's still a great asset to the club."

The Northern Irishman, who joined West Brom in 2011, has started 26 Premier League games this season.
