Marco Silva has sympathy for Southampton boss Mauricio Pellegrino

Watford boss Marco Silva says that he understands Mauricio Pellegrino's frustration as his side have also been on the end of some poor refereeing decisions this season.

Marco Silva has admitted that he understands why Mauricio Pellegrino was left feeling aggrieved following Watford's 2-2 draw with Southampton at Vicarage Road.

The Hornets dragged themselves level from two goals down, scoring the second of their goals in in stoppage time after Abdoulaye Doucoure diverted the ball over the line with the use of his hand.

Pellegrino called for VAR to be introduced due to the "injustice" of being denied all three points in Hertfordshire, and Silva has sympathy for his opposite number having also been on the receiving end of some dodgy decisions this term.

"Everybody has seen the goal, I don't need to talk about the goal," he told reporters. "Something can happen, and this season we've had other moments when the decisions are against us, but that is football.

"I understand Southampton, I understand their manager, they are unhappy like I was more than one time in games when mistakes are against us."

Watford, currently 10th in the Premier League table, have now recovered eight points from losing positions at home this season.
