Wales manager Chris Coleman desperate for positive result against Serbia

Wales manager Chris Coleman insists that there are no excuses for failure in Tuesday's World Cup qualifier against Serbia.

Wales manager Chris Coleman has insisted that his team need to forget about excuses and focus on getting a result against Serbia on Tuesday.

Coleman's side lost their opening World Cup qualifier against Belgium on Friday, after having James Collins sent off inside 30 minutes.

He insisted that despite missing Craig Bellamy, Neil Taylor, Jack Collison and Joe Allen for the Belgium match, getting a result in Serbia is paramount.

Coleman said: "It is important to get something. People are not going to look at our situation and say we had this guy missing, they are going to say 'you've got no points', which is fair enough.

"We have to show the same attitude as we showed against Belgium.

"We will try and keep 11 players on the pitch, obviously, and if we do that we will pick points up, I am certain of that. I am certain of that because we have just played the strongest team in the group and done well."

Serbia are also looking for their first victory in Group A, after they played out a goalless draw with Scotland in their opening qualifier on Saturday.
