Chris Coleman to stay on for Euro 2016 qualifying?

FAW chief executive Jonathan Ford hints that Chris Coleman will be offered an extension to his current deal, which expires in November.

Football Association Wales chief executive Jonathan Ford has indicated that Chris Coleman will lead the nation into the qualifying campaign for Euro 2016.

The 43-year-old, who took over following the death of Gary Speed, has a contract until November, and has stated that he wants a thorough assessment of the campaign before deciding on his future.

Ford believes that Coleman has done a good job and revealed that there have already been talks about extending his deal.

"We've got Chris until November and we've entered into discussions," FAW chief executive Jonathan Ford told Sky Sports News. "Of course, there were some disappointing results but we've had conversations with Chris very recently and he'll want to take stock and evaluate the campaign.

"We will do exactly the same and we'll come back and have a discussion about how we go forward together. He will have his own plans and we will want to have those talks in a timely fashion.

"I think on the whole he has done a very good job and we need to be understanding of the circumstances of how he took over the team. I think he could be the right person to take us forward and hopefully look for qualification to Euro 2016."

Wales finished fifth in Group A of World Cup qualifying, but ended with positive results against Macedonia and Belgium.
