Villarreal goalkeeper Sergio Asenjo has admitted that he "wasn't expecting" to be called into the latest Spain squad.
The stopper has been rewarded for an impressive campaign with a place in the La Roja squad for their upcoming games against Ukraine and Netherlands.
The 25-year-old is behind Iker Casillas and David de Gea in the pecking order, but has vowed to learn from his time with the squad.
"I wasn't expecting to get the call. It has been a surprise for me but I'm hoping I'll be able to return. I'm here to learn," Asenjo told reporters.
Asenjo was preferred to Espanyol goalkeeper Kiko Casilla.
