Report: Valencia want Rafael Benitez return

A report claims that Valencia want their former manager Rafael Benitez to replace Gary Neville as head coach at the end of the season.

Valencia are reportedly keen for former boss Rafael Benitez to return to the Mestalla hotseat at the end of the season.

Gary Neville currently holds the managerial position at Valencia, but the former Manchester United defender is not expected to remain at the club beyond the end of the current campaign.

The Englishman has not yet led Valencia to a league win and saw his team thumped 7-0 at Barcelona in the first leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final on Wednesday.

According to AS, Los Che's sporting director Jesus Garcia Pitarch has already approached Benitez's representatives to sound out whether the Spaniard would be interested in a return to the club that he left in 2004.

Benitez, who was sacked as Real Madrid boss earlier this season, won two La Liga titles and the UEFA Cup during his three-year spell at the Mestalla.
