Andre Villas-Boas astonished by Jose Mourinho's Chelsea exit

Andre Villas-Boas describes Chelsea's sacking of Jose Mourinho as "quite incredible", saying that owner Roman Abramovich has "sacked basically every coach that he's had".

Former Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas has described last month's departure of Jose Mourinho from Stamford Bridge as "quite incredible".

Like Mourinho, fellow Portuguese Villas-Boas was removed from his post in 2011 by Blues owner Roman Abramovich, who Villas-Boas said "has sacked basically every coach that he's had".

"It's been quite incredible to see that [being dismissed] was applied to everybody," Villas-Boas told beIN Sports.

"It was applied to probably their dearest coach, their most successful coach, so in the end we have seen nothing different. Roman has sacked basically every coach that he's had.

"It's no different. It happened even to the best. The same criteria that he has applied to me, for Rafael Benitez, for all the other coaches, (Carlo) Ancelotti, he's applied to Jose as well."

Villas-Boas, 38, is now in charge of Zenit St Petersburg, but he is going to leave the Russian side at the end of the season.
