Uruguay striker Luis Suarez insists that he is a team player ahead of the Copa America final.

Liverpool and Uruguay striker Luis Suarez has insisted that he is a team player ahead of the Copa America final.

The 24-year-old is the tournament's joint top scorer alongside Argentina's Sergio Aguero after bagging a brace against Peru. However, he has said that he is focused on helping his side win rather than becoming the competition's leading goalscorer.

"Being top scorer is not the important thing for me," he told AFP. "The main issue is the collective dream of winning the Copa.

"Personal stuff is secondary to that."

Uruguay will be looking to win their 15th Copa America title against Paraguay this Sunday, but the former Ajax forward has warned his teammates not to be distracted by past glories.

"We'll not forget about those titles [but] we are thinking about the present, about carrying on winning," he continued. "Uruguay are not going to waste time celebrating past achievements and past titles."

Suarez signed for Liverpool for a fee of £22.8m in January. He has since made 14 appearances for the club, scoring four goals.
