Emile Heskey joins Newcastle Jets

Former Liverpool and England striker Emile Heskey completes a move to Australian side Newcastle Jets.

Former Liverpool and England striker Emile Heskey has joined Australian side Newcastle Jets.

The 34-year-old had been a free agent after being released by Aston Villa over the summer.

"This is an exciting new period in my life and I am looking forward to making a special contribution to the A-League and most importantly, to the Jets," Heskey told the club's official website.

"I hope I can help grow football at the grassroots level and also provide advice to young players at the Jets."

Heskey is one of only 23 players to have scored over 100 goals in the Premier League.
