Swansea City miss out on Fernando Llorente

Swansea City will not be signing Fernando Llorente after the striker made the decision to remain at Sevilla.

Sevilla forward Fernando Llorente has spurned the advances of Swansea City in order to remain in La Liga.

The Premier League side had been hoping to strengthen their striking department with the signing of the Spanish international but despite making just 19 starts in all competitions last season, the 31-year-old has decided to stay at Sevilla.

The player's agent Chus Llorente is quoted by Marca as saying: "Fernando will continue at Sevilla. We have decided not to listen to other offers.

"Sevilla is a team of champions, and Fernando wants to succeed in it. He also believes it has the necessary conditions for a new project."

Since the end of last season, both Alberto Paloschi and Bafetimbi Gomis have decided to leave the Liberty Stadium while Andre Ayew continues to be linked with a switch to West Ham United.
