Swansea City's Garry Monk 'stands by' his comments about referee Michael Oliver

Swansea City boss Garry Monk says that he 'stands by' his comments about referee Michael Oliver after the FA contacted him about explaining his remarks.

Swansea City manager Garry Monk has insisted that he does not regret his comments about referee Michael Oliver following last weekend's 2-1 defeat to Stoke City.

The 35-year-old described Oliver's decision to award the Potters with a first-half penalty as "disgusting" because Victor Moses allegedly dived in the box.

Today, the Football Association announced that Monk has been contacted to explain his comments about the match official.

When asked about the FA's contact, Monk told reporters: "No problem. I'm happy to give them observations. What I'll say will be between me and authorities but I will speak honestly about what I said.

"They'll want to go over it and go through correct procedures, which is fine, but I stand by comments. It was plain to see but we move on and focus on Leicester. But my observations will be kept in house."

The Swans will host Leicester City at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday.
