Garry Monk plays down one-man team label

Swansea City boss Garry Monk insists that Wilfried Bony's talismanic form does not make the Swans a one-man team.

Garry Monk has refuted suggestions that his Swansea City team are too reliant on talismanic striker Wilfried Bony.

Bony has scored eight times in the Premier League this season - including four of the Swans' last six goals.

City's alternative striking options will be tested next month when the Ivory Coast international leaves for the Africa Cup of Nations, but Monk insists that his troops will cope in the 25-year-old's absence.

"We're very much a collective here and it's not just about Wilfried scoring goals," he told Sky Sports News. "The way we've produced the chances for Wilfried to contribute shows that.

"Yes, that's not to say there's six or seven players producing goals freely but look at the league and there's no massive amount of variation apart from the top teams.

"We create chances for each other and we don't care who scores as long as the team wins and we are creating those chances and someone's there to put it in the back of the net."

Club captain Ashley Williams recently encouraged Monk to bolster his options in the January transfer window.
