Gus Poyet: 'Sunderland close to Ignacio Scocco deal'

Sunderland manager Gus Poyet reveals that the club is closing in on a deal to sign Internacional striker Ignacio Scocco.

Sunderland manager Gus Poyet has revealed that the club is "very close" to signing Internacional striker Ignacio Scocco.

It was reported on Monday that the Black Cats had agreed a fee for the 28-year-old Argentine forward.

However, Cardiff City were also said to be interested in the player.

When asked if a transfer was almost complete, Poyet told reporters: "I hope so. It's not done, but we are very, very close."

Sunderland made an attempt to sign Scocco last summer before he decided to join Internacional.
