Dick Advocaat refuses to clarify position as manager

Dick Advocaat says that he cannot say whether or not he will still be in charge of the club for the next game in two weeks' time after a 2-2 draw with West Ham United.

Sunderland manager Dick Advocaat has refused to confirm whether or not he will be staying at the club after the draw with West Ham United on Saturday.

The Black Cats let a two-goal lead slip to draw 2-2 with the Hammers and extend their winless start in the Premier League to eight matches after they had led 2-0 a quarter of the way through the match.

Reports had claimed that Advocaat would leave his role after Saturday's match regardless of the result, and the Dutchman said that he could not say that he would definitely still be in the dugout after the international break.

Speaking to BBC Sport, he said: "I do not want to give an answer on that. I cannot say that I will be the manager for the next game.

"Today I am the manager, what will happen in the next weeks, months, I cannot say. The newspapers have to have something to write otherwise there is nothing in the newspapers."

Sunderland are bottom of the Premier League table with three points from eight matches.
