Sunderland owner Ellis Short 'enlists help of New York firm to advertise club'

Sunderland owner Ellis Short is working alongside New York-based firm Inner Circle Sports to help sell the club, according to reports.

Sunderland have reportedly enlisted the help of New York-based firm Inner Circle Sports to help sell the club.

Black Cats owner Ellis Short is searching for a buyer after eight years in charge of the Wearsiders, who currently sit bottom of the Premier League table.

According to Sky Sports News, Inner Circle Sports have previously helped in takeovers at Liverpool and Crystal Palace, and the company have produced a document in a bid to attract potential investors.

A statement by Sunderland addressing the news read: "The Premier League is the most-watched sporting league in the world.

"Its popularity and global reach means that there will always be interest for its member clubs and the information is simply a standardised document available in relation to enquiries received about the club."

Chinese and American investors have reportedly talked to Short about a takeover of Sunderland in recent months.
