Gus Poyet: 'Sunderland are much better'

Gus Poyet insists that his Sunderland team are improving after they played out a goalless draw against Leicester City to go three Premier League games unbeaten.

Sunderland manager Gus Poyet has said that his team are improving after they battled to a 0-0 draw against Leicester City on Saturday.

Steven Fletcher and Adam Johnson both went close to making the breakthrough for the Black Cats, but neither side could find a winner at the King Power Stadium.

After the game, Poyet told BBC Sport: "We were waiting to see the shape of Leicester because they have been changing it the last few weeks. We knew after first 15 minutes it would be difficult and they would come at us but after that we were comfortable. I think we had the best chance of the game with Fletcher.

"It was a game where you are trying to win but don't risk enough to lose it. It was a balanced game I think. We have got much better in recent weeks. We are a difficult team to beat again.

"When we conceded eight goals at Southampton it was after an international break, so we had a big point to prove today and I am very pleased we proved it."

The result leaves Sunderland 14th in the Premier League table and unbeaten in three games.
