Michael Owen says that he is feeling sharp and is eager to get back on the pitch for Stoke City.

Stoke City striker Michael Owen has revealed that he is currently in the best shape that he has been in for a long time.

The former England international has been hampered by a hamstring injury since he joined the Potters on a free transfer in September of this year.

However, following a number of training sessions, the 32-year-old has admitted that he cannot wait to get back on the pitch.

"Don't often tweet about training but I felt the best I have in months today. Can't wait to kick start my season in the coming weeks," he wrote on Twitter.

Owen has made four appearances for Stoke during his short stint with the Staffordshire-based club.
