Tottenham Hotspur confirm the arrival of Atalanta BC goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini on a season-long loan with an option to buy.

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the arrival of Atalanta BC goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini on a season-long loan deal.

The Lilywhites also have the option to sign the 26-year-old on a permanent basis next summer, and he returns to England having previously plied his trade with Aston Villa.

Gollini will provide competition to Hugo Lloris in between the sticks at Tottenham and arrives in North London after keeping 10 clean sheets in 25 Serie A appearances during the 2020-21 season.

Once of Manchester United, Gollini is a one-cap Italy international, having made his debut for the Azzurri off the bench in a 3-0 European Championship qualifying victory over Bosnia & Herzegovina in November 2019.

The shot-stopper has become Nuno Espirito Santo's first signing since his appointment as Tottenham manager, and his Atalanta teammate Cristian Romero could reportedly be set to follow him to the English capital.
