Reports in Germany claim that Lewis Holtby will join Tottenham Hotspur six months earlier than originally planned.

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly reached an agreement with Schalke 04 to bring forward Lewis Holtby's arrival date at White Hart Lane.

The midfielder had already signed a pre-contract with Spurs, which would have seen him move to England at the end of the current campaign.

However, following a knee injury suffered by Brazilian international Sandro, speculation claimed that Tottenham were eager to add 22-year-old Holtby to their squad this month.

Despite failing with a first bid, the Premier League club have now seen an offer in the region of £1.5m accepted by Schalke, according to numerous reports in Germany.

Recent rumours had claimed that Holtby was also keen to push forward with the deal.
