Report: Tottenham Hotspur to trade Emmanuel Adebayor for Christian Benteke

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly planning to use Emmanuel Adebayor as a makeweight in a deal for Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke.

Tottenham Hotspur will reportedly use Emmanuel Adebayor as a makeweight in a deal for Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke.

It is thought that the Belgium man, who has a £32.5m buyout clause, is keen to leave Villa Park and will not sign a new contract when his current deal expires in 2017.

According to the Birmingham Mail, Spurs are hoping that Tim Sherwood's relationship with Adebayor from their time together at White Hart Lane will work in their favour.

Under current Villa manager and ex-Spurs boss Sherwood, the Togolese forward scored 14 goals in just 25 games during the 2013-14 season.
