Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly tabled an improved offer of £25m for Juventus midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur.
The Uruguay international was believed to have been a prime target for Aston Villa during the latter stages of the January window, but Steven Gerrard's side supposedly saw a £21m offer rejected by the Italian giants.
With the Lions now no longer considered to be in the running for Bentancur's signature, Tottenham seemingly have a clear path to try to lure the 24-year-old away from Turin before Monday's deadline.
According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham have approached Juve with an offer of £25m after seeing a loan bid rebuffed by Juve, but the Old Lady are ready to accept the Lilywhites' latest offer.
The report adds that Juve will use the funds to make a move for Borussia Monchengladbach's Denis Zakaria, and Tottenham are keen to complete a deal even with Tanguy Ndombele's hopes of an exit now dwindling.
Bentancur has registered three assists in 26 appearances for Juventus this season and is not due to become a free agent until the summer of 2024.
